Man City 2 – Liverpool 1
Three weeks ago I put the Liverpool – City game into my Calendar because I was so excited about it. It’s rare a game like this truly lives up to expectations but Man City – Liverpool was undoubtedly the game of the Premier League Season thus far.
What was at stake?
The title race. City started the day 7 points behind Liverpool and a loss would have handed Liverpool the title in my opinion. Now just 4 points behind, City are back within striking distance.
Leroy Sane – scored the crucial second goal coming off the left wing.
Raheem Sterling – set up the second goal and was a huge threat all game.
Sergio Aguero – not many in the world can score the type of goal he scored today.
Bernardo Silva – MOTM, must have run 1000 miles during the game, he was everywhere and spearheaded City’s pressing efforts.
Were Liverpool Unlucky ?
A little bit. For large parts of the game Liverpool were the better team and I still can’t believe they didn’t score in the first half.
For neutral fans this was the best possibly outcome. We now have a true title race on our hands. I ultimately think City still have their eyes on the Champions League a little more than the EPL. It is incredible tough to repeat and I still give Liverpool a slight edge at this point.
